You are never alone.
The grief support group at the Cathedral of Saint Peter provides support to people in our community who are grieving the loss of a loved one. We are frequently reminded of the reality of death, and our Christian responsibility to offer some degree of comfort to those who mourn.
Our ministry is managed by a small group of dedicated individuals who have been exposed to death and dying in their own lives. They have received instruction on the grief support group process and have a special empathy which is required when dealing with bereaved persons.
The grief support group will work through a series of topics to help you understand the grief process and to find healing.
Each Wednesday beginning March 4th and ending on March 25th (Spring session), June 24th to July 15th (Summer session), and October 28th to November 18th (Fall session) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Diocesan Pastoral Center, Wyoming Avenue (across the street from the Cathedral).
If you are interested in attending the support group meetings or would like more information, contact the Parish Office by phone at 570.344.7231 or send us an email.
Lord, at the moment nothing seems to be able to help the loss I feel. My heart is broken and my spirit mourns. All I know is that Your grace is sufficient. This day, this hour, moment by moment, I choose to lean on You. For when I am at my weakest, Your strength is strongest. I pour out my grief to You and praise You that on one glorious day when all suffering is extinguished and love has conquered, we shall walk together again.
Jesus said, Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.
