Independence Day Blessings

On behalf of Bishop Bambera, Monsignor Rupert, the resident clergy, and staff, we wish you God’s blessings for a happy and safe Independence Day holiday. As we celebrate let us remember to pray that God will strengthen and bless America and make our nation a haven of liberty and justice for all — born and unborn.

A Prayer for Independence Day

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. -Psalms 33:12.

God, source of all freedom, this day is bright with the memory of those who declared life and liberty are your gifts to every human being. Help us to continue good work begun long ago. Make our vision clear and our will strong: that only in human solidarity will we find liberty, and justice only in the honor that belongs to every life on earth. Turn our hearts toward the family of nations: to understand the ways of others, to offer friendship, and to find safety only in the common good of all.

Mary, Immaculate Virgin, our Mother, patroness of our United States, grant peace on our land, have mercy on her people, and pray for us, that acting always according to your will and the will of your divine Son, we may live our faith in all that we do.

Amen.
